CAR hand is the new second-placed team in Formula 1, having claimed pole position on Sunday in Melbourne.
The team has just three points to go and was hoping for a strong result at Suzuka as it will be one of the final rounds before the championship runs its final season in 2017.
It was not to be, however, as the Porsche team won the race, which means the team is now just three seconds behind the two-time world champions.
“The first lap was pretty much a battle between the two teams and it was a battle of who could do more,” said team owner Jens Marquardt.
“It was a bit of a gamble for us, because we don’t want to have any kind of trouble for the next few races.”
But the car did a great job and it is very exciting for us.
“The car did not do too badly either, finishing just six laps ahead of the Audi team.”
I think we have to give credit to the car and how well it was able to manage the heat in a race like this, it was quite close,” said Marquards team boss Markus Kroll.”
If it had been the Mercedes, the Porsche would have been in front.
“We know what we have done, we know what the challenges are and that is why we did so well.”
