Electric carmaker Tesla Motors has offered a guaranteed second-sale guarantee to its customers if they buy their second hand Tesla Model S and Model X electric cars from a dealership or Tesla Motors dealer in the US.
“Tesla Motors will give its customers a second-sales guarantee on any second hand electric car that is purchased from a Tesla Motors Dealer,” Tesla Motors said in a statement.
The guarantee applies to a Tesla Model 3 or Model X car purchased from Tesla Motors dealers, and any Tesla Model X purchased from an authorized Tesla dealer in other parts of the world.
However, customers cannot be guaranteed a second sale for the second-half of the Model 3’s lifecycle if they are not purchasing the vehicle at an authorized dealer.
According to Tesla, it will guarantee the second sale of the second hand car for up to 10 years.
Tesla’s second hand-sold vehicle program is aimed at helping its customers avoid the high-cost of buying second-Hand cars.
In its first half, Tesla Motors sales of the car range were $1.4 billion, but as of today, Tesla has sold more than 990,000 Model S cars.
Tesla has been selling cars directly to customers since the start of 2016, and it has expanded the program by partnering with authorized dealers to offer third-hand cars.
The program aims to offer the same level of service, safety and reliability as its first-hand-sold vehicles, but it will be much more cost-effective for Tesla to sell third-party cars directly from the dealership.
