A Chinese company is offering a guaranteed second hand price-hang of up to HK$2,000 per vehicle if the buyer can prove he or she is not connected to the mainland.
A Facebook post by the company, Tesla Motors Hong Kong, said the deal was in response to the recent spate of car theft and fraud in Hongkong.
“Tesla is committed to helping its customers in a secure environment,” the post said.
The post has been shared more than 30,000 times.
Hong Kong authorities said the HK$5,000 is a first offer and the company has not yet taken any further action.
