A car in the hands of the locals is the perfect vehicle for them to travel, work and relax.
It will make the trip a bit easier and save them money, said Boise’s Deputy Mayor and city council president, Scott Loomis.
Boise is located in the heart of Idaho Falls, the state capital of Idaho.
The town is surrounded by water and ski areas, as well as several recreational destinations.
Loomi said it is the right time for Boise to adopt a car-only policy.
He added that Boise is in the middle of the state’s transition to a carbon-free economy.
As of 2018, the city was only burning about 1.5 million tons of coal a day, according to the Idaho Energy Council.
He said it would be difficult for Boiseans to stay in their homes during that transition, so he and other local officials are working on a plan to have a car as a daily part of the local community.
Boize is not the only city in Idaho to be considering car-less streets.
On Friday, the City Council of Seattle voted in favor of a ban on new vehicles on streets.
Mayor Ed Murray said in a statement the city is trying to help reduce pollution and traffic congestion by using electric vehicles and public transit.
He added that the city would have to study a car ban, but it is something that he believes the community supports.
Boisacountains in Boisaridjak are getting ready for a change to the way cars are used by locals.
A recent report commissioned by the city found that the boise-area is the only place in the U.S. that is not producing more than 50 percent of the nation’s electricity.
It also found that in Boise, the number of cars on the streets has dropped from 10,000 in 2016 to 4,500 today.
Loomis said the boises are trying to figure out how to transition to the new system of electric vehicles.
He noted that the electric vehicles are safer and more fuel efficient than regular vehicles.
Lorna Wahlstrom, the director of public safety for the city of Bozeman, told CNN that she believes the new electric vehicle system will save lives, especially if it is part of a community effort.
“It’s a great thing,” she said.
“We’ve seen a lot of success with this program in Bozemans cities.”
